NEGRI GRAZIANO

Graziano Negri was born in 1957 in Azzahra, Libya, to parents of Italian origin. He passed away in 2013.

Gifted with natural talent, he approached art at a very young age, beginning with figurative painting, closely linked to pop art and symbolic figurativism. In the 1990s, in the “Imaginary Line” series, he explored abstract, or rather aniconic, painting, which was more congenial to him: painting that is “not painted” but guided and allowed to slide across the surface of various media, occasionally captured in a continuous interplay of rapid gestures and broad, colored fields. This was followed by the “Eponymous Painting” series, a new creative exploration focused on the physical impact of total, enveloping color on the surface. In the new millennium, Negri found a new expressive identity in the paintings dedicated to light in the “Perle” series, where white takes on a decisive force, background and gesture dialogue in a liquid symbiosis, and matter resolves space in the fusion of color and light. The artist’s latest creative period is linked to “Painting in the Woods,” a “sequence of images that sink into the reverberations of light, flashes of totality that disorient the gaze and push toward the invisible hidden within the visible.” (

Since 1988, he has collaborated with the Galleria Plurima in Udine and Milan; abroad, he has been followed by the Galerie Lil’ Orsay in Paris and the APC Galerie in Cologne and Freiburg. His first solo exhibition was held by Studio Delise in Portogruaro in 1989, and since the 1990s, he has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in private and public galleries in Italy and abroad: in 1997, at the Dumont Kunsthalle in Cologne,

His works are found in important public collections such as the Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Udine, the Collection of the Banca del Lavoro in Rome, the Friuladria Collection, the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Portogruaro and the Luigi Spazzapan Regional Gallery of Contemporary Art in Gradisca d’Isonzo.
